Chapter 13
Zachary was the center of attention as he entered the room, completely unaware of his new bride sitting in a corner. Serenity tried to spot him through the crowd but couldn’t get a good look at his face. After a while, she gave up, deciding to sit back down. She nudged her best friend, saying, “I won’t bother. It’s too crowded to get a good look. Let’s eat.” Serenity was here for one reason: to indulge in food.
“Wait here, Seren. I’ll find out who’s here. It’s like the king’s arrival with all this fuss,” Jasmine said, her curiosity piqued.
“Sure,” Serenity replied casually.
Jasmine wandered off to inquire, leaving Serenity to enjoy her meal. Having already finished her plates, Serenity got up to clear them. While everyone else was focused on the VIP, Serenity could move around freely, grabbing food without the scrutiny of others.
Zachary made his way into the room, first engaging in light conversation with the event organizer. His bodyguards, always on alert, kept an eye on everyone around them. Zachary was known for being particularly wary of women getting too close to him, so the bodyguards were extra vigilant for anyone with hidden motives.
One of the bodyguards, tall and observant, noticed Serenity in the corner while scanning the venue. At first, he doubted his eyes but quickly recognized her as Mrs. Zachary. Though Zachary had kept his identity hidden when marrying Serenity, his bodyguards, except for the elderly Mrs. Zachary, were familiar with her. The bodyguard, still surprised, watched as Serenity effortlessly filled two plates with food before walking away to sit in the corner.
Serenity continued to enjoy her meal without a care in the world, completely unaware of the attention she was attracting.
The bodyguard, still processing the sight, hesitated before approaching Zachary after he finished his conversation with some CEOs. “Mr. Zachary,” the bodyguard whispered, “I saw your missus.”
