Chapter 51
Zachary’s instructions were clear: “Don’t let the old Mrs. know about today.” His voice was cold and firm, carrying a sense of authority that left no room for argument. The bodyguards around him nodded in understanding, recognizing the gravity of the situation. If Mrs. York—Zachary’s mother—found out about Elisa’s bold actions, it could cause serious trouble. It was best to keep the incident under wraps, especially with Elisa’s public confession of love for a married man.
Zachary walked into the building, his expression as stoic as ever. His lips were set in a straight line, his jaw tight, and his steps were confident as he moved through the halls. The employees couldn’t help but steal glances at him. Zachary had always been the object of admiration for many young women in the company. His sharp, regal appearance, combined with the aura of power he exuded, made him the subject of countless fantasies. However, no one dared to openly express their feelings for him, much less pursue him. The York family, after all, was a class of their own—too far removed from the everyday lives of the employees.
Despite the awe he commanded, no one dared to cross the line and make their feelings known. Even though the York men were known for their loyalty to their partners, the possibility of capturing their hearts seemed like an unreachable dream.
In the privacy of his office, Zachary pulled out his phone and dialed Clive’s number. It took a while for Clive to pick up, and when he did, there was a teasing lilt in his voice. “Well, well, well, Mr. CEO calling me? Is it my lucky day?”
Zachary didn’t have time for pleasantries. He cut straight to the point. “Clive, sort your sister out!”
At the mention of his sister, Clive’s tone shifted immediately. He could sense the seriousness in Zachary’s voice. “What did Elisa do?” Clive asked, already fearing the worst. He knew Elisa had been harboring feelings for Zachary for years. Lately, she had even mentioned that she was planning to confess her love to him. Clive had been trying to talk her out of it, but it seemed she hadn’t listened.
Zachary’s voice was sharp with irritation. “She’s pestering me! She’s outside my office right now. Either you come get her, or I’ll have my men throw her out.”
