Chapter 112
Chapter Title: Unexpected Encounters
Sebastian had been loitering around since mid-afternoon, afraid that if he left for even a moment, he might miss the chance to run into Myra. His stomach had begun to growl, reminding him that he had skipped dinner just to stay in place. Now, as the clock struck 9:00 PM, his patience was wearing thin. She’s a woman who stays out late at night, he thought, frustration creeping into his voice. How ridiculous.
As if on cue, the elevator let out a soft ding. Sebastian’s eyes lit up, and without realizing it, he straightened up. His anticipation heightened, and his mind raced with the possibility that Myra was finally arriving.
Myra stepped out of the elevator, her exhaustion clear in the way she dragged her feet. She paused in her tracks when she saw Sebastian standing right in front of her. What is he doing here? she thought, tension creeping through her body. The building she lived in had high security, and it was unusual for strangers to gain access so easily. Is he here because of the rumors? Does he know something about the leak to Hart Group?
Sebastian immediately noticed the wariness in her eyes, and it gave him a boost of confidence. Good. She’s wary. That means she’s not as careless as the others. He smirked slightly. “Aren’t you going to invite me in?” he asked, standing a little taller, his gaze fixed on her.
Myra froze, still taken aback by his sudden presence. She had never expected this. It took her a moment before she stammered, “Uh, sure…”
She opened the door for him, still unsure of what was happening. Sebastian, on the other hand, was already surveying the interior of her apartment as if this was just another casual visit. Not bad, he thought as he took in the neat decor and tidy space. Someone clearly takes care of this place.
Myra hurriedly grabbed a pair of indoor slippers for him. However, when she handed them to him, she realized they were a pair of women’s slippers. She winced, apologizing quickly, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were coming over. I only have these.”
Sebastian glanced at the slippers, then at her. So, she hasn’t had any other men here before, he concluded with satisfaction. The thought made him feel a little more at ease, and he hid the pleased look on his face as he slid his feet into the slippers.
She really has no idea what I’m up to, he thought as he looked around the apartment. It was a small, cozy space, clean and well-organized. Seems like she lives here alone. She’s not hiding anything, at least not here.
By now, Myra’s stomach was growling in hunger, a stark reminder of the long day she had endured. Maybe I should offer him something to eat, she thought. It’s the least I can do. “Would you like to stay for dinner, Old Master Hart? I’m afraid all I have is pasta,” she offered hesitantly.
Sebastian, initially displeased with the idea of such a simple meal, reconsidered. If my grandson is so set on this girl, he probably hasn’t had the chance to try her cooking yet, he reasoned. Let’s see what she’s got.
