Chapter 127
Chapter Title: Unspoken Confessions
Tony deliberately pulled his hand away, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Of course not. How could I be angry with you? I’m just a nobody. If you want to hide me, that’s entirely up to you.”
Myra rolled her eyes inwardly at his words. He was clearly emphasizing the point, yet claiming he wasn’t upset. It was almost as if he wanted her to notice his frustration.
With a mischievous smile, Myra toyed with his right hand. “I’m not trying to hide you, Tony. You’re not an object, so why would I need to hide you? Oh… wait, that sounds wrong. You are something, but—haha…”
Tony’s face darkened immediately. “Myra, that’s enough.”
His sharp tone cut through her words, and the lightness in his eyes vanished, replaced by a cold intensity. Under the harsh light in the car, she saw the subtle gleam in his pupils—the faintest reflection of herself in his eyes. It was an unsettling yet intimate moment that stirred something deep within her.
Suddenly, memories came flooding back to Myra—memories she hadn’t thought of in a while. She remembered the way Tony had looked at her when she apologized to Elsie after Sean’s misunderstanding. His eyes had softened when he picked her up, as if he could sense the weight of her sorrow. Then there was the night at the banquet, when he’d casually opened a can of coconut juice for her. At the Hart Group party, he had shielded her from harm when others had tried to push the blame onto her.
And there were countless other moments—small, yet significant—where Tony had stepped in to help her, protect her, without asking for anything in return.
They had known each other for barely two months, but the bond between them had already deepened beyond words.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she gently squeezed his hand. “I just feel like I don’t owe him anything anymore,” she said softly. “Sean doesn’t matter to me now. He doesn’t need to know about my life anymore.”
Tony’s gaze softened. His fingers tightened around her hand, and he slowed the car down, his expression unreadable for a moment. There was something in her tone that caught his attention—something more than just the words she had spoken. It was as though she had shed the last of her ties to the past, and in doing so, was opening herself up to something new.
He let the silence stretch between them for a moment, his thumb caressing her hand gently. “So, when do we make it official?” he asked, his tone casual, yet there was a hint of something deeper beneath his words.
Myra blinked, clearly thrown off by his question. She pouted slightly. “I don’t quite understand…”
The car came to a sudden halt, and before she could process what was happening, Tony reached over, unbuckled his seatbelt, and pulled her onto his lap.
She gasped, startled by the sudden proximity. His face loomed in front of hers, his eyes dark with an intensity that made her pulse quicken.
“You don’t understand me?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.
Myra’s breath caught in her throat. The space between them was so small now that it seemed to burn with electric tension. She could feel the heat radiating off him, the subtle shift in his posture that told her he wasn’t going to let this moment pass without making his intentions clear.
