Chapter 154
Myra’s voice, like her presence, was gentle and soft, carrying no hidden force or aggression. It was a voice that could soothe, that could draw him in without effort. But Tony, despite his usual calm demeanor, felt the stirring of his emotions every time she spoke like that. How did she manage to control his feelings so easily? Even more so, how did she know exactly how to comfort him when his thoughts were clouded?
He couldn’t help but feel a strange satisfaction when she confessed that she’d gotten jealous. It was an unexpected confession, one that made him smile even before he could fully process it. That simple admission made something inside him shift, and before he could think twice, he took the initiative and kissed her.
The kiss was anything but gentle; it was fierce and demanding, as if he wanted to devour her whole. He pulled off the vest she was wearing and tossed it aside carelessly. The cool night air sent a shiver through her, but it wasn’t the chill she feared—it was the realization of what she had on underneath her dress. Her breath hitched, and before he could tear at the collar of her dress, she panicked and grabbed his hands.
“Wait… wait…” Her voice was frantic, her face turning a shade of crimson as she tried to catch her breath, her heart racing. She looked at him desperately, her eyes wide, almost pleading. “I haven’t showered yet… I… I want to shower first…”
She could feel the weight of the moment, the madness of the situation. In her haste, she had acted on an impulsive whim, but now she was fighting the urge to escape, to return to her apartment, to change out of these clothes.
But Tony had no intention of letting her go. He wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, his eyes narrowing dangerously as he looked down at her, his lips curling into a smirk. “Who was it that said I could do anything I wanted once we got home?” he teased, his voice low and provocative.
Her face reddened further, and she bit her lip, unwilling to let go of his hand. She couldn’t meet his gaze, turning her head away, trying to find some space in her mind to calm her racing thoughts. “I just… I just remembered I need to shower… Please, let me.”
Her voice was barely a whisper as she tried to explain herself, but Tony wasn’t listening. He picked her up in his arms, effortlessly lifting her as if she weighed nothing, and carried her upstairs. As he did, his gaze flickered to the plastic bag by the sofa, and something in his eyes shifted. A mischievous glint sparked, and a hint of amusement played in his features.
“By going to the bathroom, do you mean the bathroom in your house?” he asked with a smirk.
Myra’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How did you know?”
Tony chuckled softly, the sound deep and resonant as it vibrated through his chest. He could feel her growing embarrassment, and he took pleasure in teasing her, knowing that he had caught her in a lie. The way she looked away from him, flustered and floundering, was simply too charming.
“Don’t tell me you thought I wouldn’t notice,” he teased, his voice laced with amusement as he continued walking upstairs. “I have a bathroom here too, you know. You don’t need to go next door to yours.”
Myra’s body tensed at his words. He was teasing her, yes, but there was something more in his tone, something that made her heart race. She hadn’t expected him to know about the clothes, or the fact that she was wearing something… inappropriate. She felt the heat rise to her face as she recalled the box and the clothes he had prepared for her.
