Chapter 166
Tony glanced at her with a faint smile. “Now you remember about Meow?”
Myra had forgotten all about Meow after their earlier disagreement, and she squirmed with embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Tony was already heading out the door. “Relax; Mrs. Frye already let it out into the garden outside. You don’t need to worry about it.”
Upon hearing that, Myra felt a wave of relief.
Tony returned with a familiar-looking bag in his hands. Myra couldn’t quite place where she had seen it before. His tall and broad figure exuded an effortless charm, and the cigarette he casually held between his fingers only added to his carefree air. Even in his casual attire of a white shirt and black pants, he still looked incredibly handsome. Myra watched him walk over, her heart rate picking up. She quickly shifted her gaze to the TV, trying to distract herself.
“You should lower the volume so we don’t disturb the others upstairs,” she suggested.
He seemed amused and nodded, “Okay.”
As he set up the DVD, he casually placed the cigarette between his lips, his side profile catching Myra’s attention. She found herself entranced by his presence and absentmindedly gulped.
Soon, the DVD was ready, and Tony walked back over to her. Though the sofa was spacious, Myra shifted over to give him some room. But Tony immediately sat down next to her and pulled her into his arms. The familiar warmth of his embrace was comforting, and Myra allowed herself to relax. She thought to herself, What’s the point of fighting? Can’t we just enjoy each other’s company peacefully?
Tony turned the volume of the TV down to a soft hum. The movie began, showing a couple arguing, with the woman leaving in tears. The man quickly chased after her, enveloping her in an embrace and trying to console her.
“Why are there no subtitles?” Myra murmured, curious. She knew it wasn’t a huge problem, but it struck her as odd.
Tony’s hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her even closer to him. His voice was a soft, almost teasing whisper by her ear. “It’s probably a low-quality DVD.”
As the movie progressed, Myra began to feel increasingly uncomfortable. The tension between the characters seemed to mirror the unspoken tension between her and Tony. After a particularly tender scene between the couple, Myra looked up at him, her face flushed. “You said this was a horror movie, didn’t you?”
Tony’s dark eyes met hers, and his voice was low. “The cover had horror movie images on it.”
