Chapter 73
“Director Hart…” Myra called out, her voice hoarse.
Tony looked at her blankly, then lowered his gaze, continuing to bandage his wound without a word.
“Myra, there’s no need to thank me,” he said flatly. “This construction site belongs to Hart Group. Even if you hadn’t been in danger, I wouldn’t have allowed anyone to get hurt here.”
His words seemed to echo the reminder of what she had told him the other night—her request for distance between them. Myra froze, stunned. But before she could gather her thoughts, Tony had already finished tending to his injury.
He stood up and carelessly threw his suit aside, revealing a white shirt underneath. His cuffs were folded neatly, and his dark blue tie was impeccably straight. His sharp features looked even more striking in the sunlight. Though he was on a construction site, surrounded by dust and workers in helmets, nothing could dull his presence. He exuded a cold, untouchable aura that only heightened his handsomeness.
“Leo, do I have any other appointments for today?” Tony asked, addressing his secretary who was standing behind him.
Leo hesitated, his eyes briefly flicking to Tony’s injured arm. “No, Director Hart. But you should really go to the hospital to check that wound…”
“Didn’t I tell you I’m not going to the hospital?” Tony replied with a half-smile, turning to glance at Leo.
In that moment, Leo felt a chill run down his spine. He quickly turned to Myra for help, but she just clenched her fists, feeling a sharp pain in her hand from the injury Tony had caused earlier. Her face went pale, and she spoke softly, “Director Hart, you should get your wound checked… what if—”
Tony’s cold voice interrupted her. “What right do you have to tell me what to do?”
Myra hadn’t expected this kind of response from him, especially after he had just saved her from the falling brick. She stiffened, biting her lip, but Tony had already turned and walked away, leaving her standing in silence.
Leo sighed inwardly as he watched Tony leave. He had wanted to say something to Myra, but he was too afraid of Tony’s temper. Instead, he hurried after his boss.
Tony was tall, and even in the busy construction site, he stood out. Myra watched as he walked into the distance, a strange ache forming in her chest. Her lips trembled, and her gaze shifted to the black suit he had discarded. He had forgotten it.
“Tony…” she whispered, just as she realized he was nowhere in sight. Confused and unsure, she stared at the jacket, lost in thought.
Meanwhile, inside the car, Tony leaned back and closed his eyes, trying to rest. The worried expression on Myra’s face from earlier replayed in his mind, and he felt his tense expression soften.
Myra is a stubborn woman. I’ve shown her kindness several times, but she still keeps pushing me away. Yet when she saw me hurt, she was clearly concerned. I know she has feelings for me, but it bothers me that she refuses to acknowledge it.
His frown deepened when he remembered Myra had mentioned being married. That thought only fueled his frustration.
In the driver’s seat, Leo couldn’t help but feel a cold sweat trickle down his back. He had intended to persuade Tony to go to the hospital, but now he was worried even more about the director’s well-being.
“Director Hart,” Leo said hesitantly, “Young Master Elliot called. He said he’ll be meeting you at Zion Club at 7:00 p.m. tonight. Young Master Philip and Director Windrow will also be there. They want to discuss the Hilliville project.”
