Chapter 10
Justin stood frozen in shock, his thoughts a whirlwind of confusion and frustration as his ex-wife hung up on him with such finality.
It was as if she had turned into a completely different person, one who was cold, detached, and indifferent.
How could this be the same woman who had once cried and begged him to stay, pleading for him not to divorce her? His mind raced, trying to piece together the puzzle—had she really not cared for him at all over the past three years, or was there some deeper reason she had endured his family’s treatment?
The more Justin thought about it, the angrier he became.
He had been furious when she left, but now, the anger felt more intense, mixed with a gnawing sense of betrayal.
His thoughts were interrupted by Ian entering the room, offering him a cup of coffee.
“Mr. Salvador, your coffee,” Ian said hesitantly, sensing his boss’s solemn mood.
“Did you manage to contact the young madam? Do you have her new number?” Ian asked, attempting to help.
Justin ran a hand over his forehead, frustration evident.
He had been so consumed by anger earlier that he had forgotten the purpose of his call.
All he knew was that after Anna left, he should have felt relief, but instead, all he felt was rage and confusion.
The sight of her with Asher only made it worse.
“Maybe next time.
I don’t want to deal with that woman now,” Justin muttered, picking up the coffee and taking a sip.
But as he tasted it, his expression twisted in distaste.
“What happened? The taste isn’t right,” Justin frowned.
“But I made it according to the recipe that the young madam gave me,” Ian replied, scratching his head in confusion.
“Recipe?” Justin asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ian explained, “Before she left, the young madam gave me a small notebook.
She wrote down your food and drink preferences, your restrictions.
.
. even what you ate, with a detailed date and time.”
He pulled the small notebook from his pocket and handed it to Justin.
Hesitant, Justin opened the notebook, his eyes scanning the neat, disciplined handwriting—so like Anna had always been.
He was struck by the details, the care she had put into documenting everything about him.
“Add a pinch of salt to the coffee to enhance the flavor.
Justin likes it that way.”
“Justin drank two bowls of seafood chowder with fresh scallops this afternoon.
I should make it for him more often in the future.”
