Chapter 51
Bella’s eyelashes fluttered as her chest tightened, the weight of the moment pressing down on her.
She met Justin’s gaze directly, her eyes burning with a fiery intensity that took him by surprise.
His instinct was to look away, but he couldn’t—there was something about the strength in her gaze that rooted him in place.
After a long, tense silence, Bella let out a laugh, cold and bitter.
She regarded him with the detached air of someone facing a stranger.
“Oh, so you’re here to vent your anger on behalf of your beloved fiancée, huh?” she mocked, her voice sharp.
“I bet you’ve been holding this in for a long time now.
Are you going to explode if you don’t confront me today?”
In her mind, Bella seethed, ‘Justin, you’re really something.
After three years of marriage, I didn’t ask you for anything.
Even if you couldn’t appreciate all the things I did, there’s no need for you to belittle me over and over again with such insulting words! What’s worse, I no longer belong to you.
Actually, you never let me belong to you.
I’ve always been like a stray cat waiting at your doorstep, hoping you’d take me in.
I longed for that day, but in the end, you abandoned me and resented me.
Why should I let you trample on me now?!’
Her voice took on a venomous edge as she continued, her eyes hardening.
“It’s a pity that even someone as influential as you won’t be able to help the Gold family get through this disaster, right? Zeke Gold has harmed KS Group’s interests, bribed my employees, falsified evidence, and framed others.
The evidence is solid, so there’s no way you can save him, even if you want to.”
Bella’s expression shifted, her gaze sharp as a dagger.
The smile on her lips was so disarming that Justin was momentarily caught off guard.
“You’re angry because you can’t change the situation.
Now you’re trying to find fault with me by mocking my private life.
You just want to humiliate me to vent your anger.
But I don’t want to play by your rules.
I’ll fight for what I want, and I won’t ever look back.
I don’t care what anyone thinks of me, including you, Justin.
If I want the Gold family to go bankrupt and the Gold siblings to pay for their crimes, I’ll do it.
No one can stop me!”
Justin’s body tensed, his muscles tight beneath his suit.
His arms felt like steel, veins standing out on the back of his hands as his anger simmered beneath the surface.
He thought to himself, ‘Just look at her! Now that she has someone behind her, she’s so confident, so sharp-tongued!’ He knew she was right about the Gold family’s wrongdoings, but it wasn’t that which made him furious.
What angered him was the way she smiled at Axel, the way her eyes lit up when she looked at him.
That was the real source of his frustration.
“You’re shameless!” he spat, his voice harsh and strained.
