Chapter 98
Justin felt a mix of irritation and relief.
Anna, you know exactly how to use me and play along in front of Grandpa, he thought.
Yet, when he noticed her red, swollen eyes, his anger softened, and he couldn’t bring himself to stay mad at her for long.
As they sat down for dinner, with Bella pushing Nigel’s wheelchair to the dining table, Justin followed behind, his thoughts still lingering on the earlier scene.
The table was laden with delicacies Nigel had specially prepared for Bella, but before they could fully settle in, Ian hurried in, looking troubled.
Ian leaned in to speak to Justin, but the old man, displeased with any whispers around him, interjected, “We’re all family here, so there’s no need to hide anything from each other, especially at my dining table.”
Ian hesitated before speaking, clearly uncomfortable, “Just now, I received a call from Madam Shannon.
She heard you were dining with Old Master Nigel and didn’t want to disturb you, so she asked me to relay a message…”
Nigel scoffed, his distaste for Shannon clear.
“Hmph! At least that woman knows her place!”
Justin remained silent, waiting for Ian to continue.
Justin was caught off guard by the news, his eyes widening in shock as he dropped his fork onto the floor.
Bella’s heart sank at the sight of Justin’s flustered reaction.
It was clear that Rosalind’s emotional instability had affected him deeply.
Ian, speaking in a worried tone, relayed the message, “Ms. Gold was making a fuss at home just now and kept calling your name.
She’s emotionally unstable, so Madam Shannon asks that you go over and have a look at her.
She fears that Ms. Gold will do something drastic…”
Before Ian could finish his sentence, Justin was already up and rushing out of the dining hall.
